AUTOBIOGRAPHY

My name is Pauline Laverde. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders at California State University, Fullerton in 2015. Since then I have been working at the same university in the Administration and Finance Information Technology department where I develop online training and support systems for the campus community. I have experience with the Learning Management System, SumTotal and the Travel and Expense Management System, Concur.

I began the Masters of Educational Technology and Media Leadership in 2017 and will be graduating Spring 2020. Throughout this program I have learn how to efficiently use and assess educational technologies. In addition, I completed my graduate certificate in Applied Disability Studies in the Fall 2019. I look forward to applying what I have learned into my profession.

PHILOSOPHY

My educational technology philosophy is that anyone can use technology. Technology can be a great equalizer in any setting to make sure no learner falls behind. For example, every person has a unique style of learning, and with the use of technology, each learner can complete the same assignment based on the technology they are comfortable using. My goal is that I want to encourage people to use technology and to apply it where they can.

Employees prosper in an environment where they feel comfortable asking for help. My job as a Project Manager and Instructional Designer is to instruct employees on how to use technology to complete their job assignments. Furthermore, my responsibility is to streamline processes and find ways to make improvements that are beneficial to everyone. When an employee is learning, they must be provided with instructional tools, as it will help them acquire information. Employees must understand how to use technology in their job before they can deliver their materials. My job is to offer employees different instructional materials from video tutorials, step-by-step instructions, training videos, and in-person training to help them prepare for their future responsibilities. By providing different instructional materials, I am giving everyone the ability to learn and understand the processes that are involved. I am also giving them the ability to choose the style of learning that is beneficial to them.

As technology evolves, it is critical to stay up to date and to continue to push the boundaries in making sure everyone can keep up with the changes. Learning never ends, and my goal is to help employees to continue to learn. It is also my responsibility to stay up to date with the latest improvements and to find ways on how to roll out those new methods. As part of the Educational Technology and Media Leadership Program, I have learned that it is my responsibility to support my team, department, and campus community. My goal is to continue to share the knowledge that I learned from the program to help others succeed in their future endeavors.
